Stress retreats now being offered by Dr. Shepard:
Flashbacks of Good: From Stressed to Blessed, is a Bible based retreat on resilience — springing back from stressful situations and finding the mitigating blessings of good. Participants will enjoy looking at the factors that assure stress reduction and a trajectory towards having not just a good day, but a great day. Through sermon, song, origami, discussion, and laughter, everyone will leave with a renewed sense of resilience, a commitment to having life worth living, and three small gifts representing the retreat.
The Flashbacks of Good retreat gives attendees the opportunity to examine their own risk factors for stress and their stress level. Discovering ways of dealing with the negative impact of stress will occur by identifying one’s own good qualities and spiritual gifts (Ready), finding Biblical truths that reduce the negative effects of stress (Set), and defining what to do next (Go: Do something for yourself or others).
Retreat schedule
The retreat includes one evening (7:00 pm – 8:30 pm) and a following day of activities (9:00 am – 3:00 am). During the evening, participants enjoy an introductory session, an overview of stress, and a chapel service. The next day, Dr. Shepard explains the mitigating factors that utilize stress as a motivating factor. A full outline of activities is available on request.

The aspen tree is a study in resilience. Thousand year old aspen roots survive forest fires and send up new trunks. When traumatic life experiences burn on the surface, remember the aspen. Your deep roots will survive and grow into a life not wasted - a life worth living. You will have flashbacks of good.
