Suzy Shepard began her resilience studies as a preschooler experiencing late night air raid warnings and being carried downstairs for safety . Another childhood move put her between a missile crisis and race riots. The years that followed included personal triumphs over a family tragedy, rape, cancer, infertility, divorce, and excommunication. She received her MSW and PhD from Washington University, Brown School of Social Work, St. Louis, Missouri. Her life’s work has been studying the factors that make a life worth living and moving people from stressed to blessed.

The aspen tree is a study in resilience. Thousand year old aspen roots survive forest fires and send up new trunks. When traumatic life experiences burn on the surface, remember the aspen. Your deep roots will survive and grow into a life not wasted - a life worth living. You will have flashbacks of good.
