Twenty five years ago, my daughter looked at a pedestrian crossing sign and asked, “Why is ‘pedes’ straying?” This reminded me of the time when I was five, looked at an office sign, and asked my mother, “Mom, why do you have to stay off the ice when it is warm?” She explained the word meant ‘office’ building — not ‘off’ the ‘ice’. Years later, I explained to my daughter a ‘pedes’ wasn’t straying; a pedestrian is a person walking along the road. What fun to have people nearby who can explain these enigmas.
No matter what chronological, emotional, or developmental age you find yourself at any one given moment, you can get clarity and answers to your complex questions about life. This is my flashback of good for today. Suzy Shepard

The aspen tree is a study in resilience. Thousand year old aspen roots survive forest fires and send up new trunks. When traumatic life experiences burn on the surface, remember the aspen. Your deep roots will survive and grow into a life not wasted - a life worth living. You will have flashbacks of good.
