No need to look back

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Looking back in my rear view mirror and seeing nothing but light reflected. This is the actual view I had in my rear view mirror.  The view was especially disconcerting because I was in a blizzard and trying to get safely off the highway.  MIssion accomplished — with no rear mirror view!

No matter what your history, you can still move forward in safety and grace.  Sometimes, you can’t and don’t need to look back in order to move forward.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

Wear your heart

Monday, March 30th, 2009

A young woman wearing a white hoodie decorated with dark gray hearts. Many years ago, a friend came up to me and said I was wearing my heart on my sleeve.  Busted!  I was.  My mother had just died and I cried at inopportune times.  My emotions were “out there” and obvious.  This week, I simply smiled when walking past this sweet young woman.  She was wearing her heart on her sleeve — literally!

The world might say you are too “emotional”.  However, there are times when emoting is a good thing.  If this is that time for you, wear your heart on your sleeve in the presence of good, healing, empathic, loving, and compassionate people and you will feel their healing influence.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

After the rain

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

Droplets hanging from a tree and deposited by a recent storm.Look carefully at the raindrops left after a storm.  The tree was covered with them.  They reflected everything around them.  Within one, I could see the whole garden.

After the last tear drop falls and the storm is over, look around and see a world that can offer you a great life.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

At the mercy of whim

Saturday, March 28th, 2009

A plethora of plastic blown onto an unleafed bush.Gusts of wind make their eery deposits.  This is a plethora of  plastic hanging on unleafed bush branches.

What you cherish most must not be at the mercy of whim.  Keep those precious thoughts protected from outside fury.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

Artistic change

Friday, March 27th, 2009

A woman getting her hair lightened. This beautiful woman was getting her hair colored blond.  Being somewhat low maintenance and never having colored my hair, I was enjoying her process and was looking forward to the results.

Color your life with change and if this is not always possible, enjoy the artistic difference of others.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

Finely aged

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

The scissors have just cut my hair that has landed on the protective cape.My hair cut went well and I looked down to see more white hairs than dark brown.  The color is changing with age.  My four year old grand daughter shouted, “Grandma, you have highlights!”  A complete stranger came up to me and asked, “Who does your highlights?”  In both cases, I had to explain that God had made the changes.  The aging process has been quite fascinating.  I never know what to expect when I get up in the morning — except good.

Appreciate, enjoy, and embrace the aging process — including the wrinkles that you have earned through hard work and endurance.  You are beautiful today.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

The heart’s respite

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

A little fellow climbs up into a turquoise art bowl.Shocked and aghast, the adults looked on as this little fellow climbed in the verboten turquoise art bowl display and found his bliss.

Move into a creative space and let your imagination soar to give your heart a respite from keeping track of all the should, ought, must, have to and need to’s of the day.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard
