Out of the ruts

Saturday, January 24th, 2009

The constant winter freezing and warming caused deep public road potholes.  They have damaged my tires, alignment, and wheel balance.  Not to worry however.  There is always a way to go around them or improve my mode of transportation.

Partnerships, friendships, family cohesiveness, work conditions, physical health, or financial assets can erode and diminish.  Your inherent resilience and flexibility will get you out of every one of life’s little ruts.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

Get ready to love

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Customers were reminded to get ready for the upcoming Valentine’s holiday.  Toothpicks, soap, candy,  flowers, baking cups, tags, balloons, nose wipes, and so on, and so on were artfully displayed on the retail table.  So many ways to say, “I love you”.

Find a way to love someone and your virtuous giving will fill and heal your own heart as well.  Even if there is no reciprocity, you will be buoyed by the expression of compassion.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

Recycle – everything!

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

My friend held up her rather attractive carry all bag and announced she made/sewed it by redesigning her pet’s sturdy, empty dog chow bag.  The color, design, and practicality of the creation astounded me.  Recycling is great!

To quote and old WWII poster, “Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without.”  You have the opportunity to make a difference for others and yourself:  Go green!  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

Arrested millions

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Millions of people attended this inauguration.  Their attention was arrested by the speaker and yet, not a single person was arrested for disorderly conduct or any other legal violation.  What power virtue has to keep people focused on what is right and good.

The cure for crime may be to shift the conspirator’s focus to viewing or doing something virtuous.  Be a part of this positive change.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

The making of a star

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

A new leader took office and gave a speech.  The sun illumining his lapel pin, created a star light effect.

Let compassion light your soul and you will be a guiding star for others to follow.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

Does she know?

Monday, January 19th, 2009

I wondered if Agnes knew she had no outlet?  What would she do now?  No way to escape.  No place to use her talents.  No where to go.  What’s the use?  OK.  Just kidding.  It’s only a road sign.

No matter what the circumstance, you will always have an outlet for being totally you.  Nothing can eclipse your true self from being expressed in useful ways.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

Clutch your comforter

Sunday, January 18th, 2009

This toddler wakes up smiling and clutching her comforter.  During the night, I can go in and see this “blankie” over, under, or around her.  She won’t be carrying it to college, but for now the soft fabric gives her great solace.  In college she’ll have adopted another secure attachment object — maybe a good pen, pet, or friend.

Consolation may come faster when you let childlike trust attach to something that is simple and dependable.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard
