The gaggle soar

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

These geese found safe sanctuary in the St. Louis Gateway arch park.  Their grace and loyalty was admirable.  I wanted to take off with them.

You don’t have to own, or insure, or take care of something in order to reap the full benefits of its regular, returning presence in your life.  Embrace these free gifts and soar.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

Stability at any age

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

This little one isn’t old enough to stand or walk, and yet her father’s snow boots keep her stable and upright.  She loved standing in her father’s boots.

As you pass from one developmental stage to the next, there will always be something to keep you stable and upright whether it be principles, mentors, or a great pair of shoes.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

Disaster? NOT!

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

I looked out the back doors and thought there was a fire in my neighbor’s yard.  The adrenalin rush sent chills to my heart.  Upon further investigation, what looked like a fire was a magnificent sunset.

When a disaster is perceived, the amygdala, neurons, and synapses begin a dance in the brain.  Let your thoughtful, rational wisdom determine what is real and what is not.  Every neural alarm and every adrenalin rush does not signal a true disaster.  You have the capacity and right to know what is real and how to respond with dignity.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

A vital need: waste removal

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

How funny to see a port-o-potty or “Johnny on the spot” restroom and a waste removal truck speeding past me. A vital need: waste removal!

Problems in life have a way of leaving a stinky residue in memory.  You can find a way to eliminate this mental waste.  Begin with forgiveness, the disposal of angry or resentful feelings towards someone or something.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

So near, so far

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

I was temporarily stymied by this accident occurring right across the street from my appointment destination.  I could actually see where I wanted to go, but couldn’t get there — so near, so far.  I passed the time by hoping everyone was all right and calling to let people know I might be late.

No matter what the delay, your life is well spent even in stationary composure.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

Who would have thought?

Friday, December 19th, 2008

Who would have thought to design an arch big enough for a museum and tram to the top?  Who would have known how to build such an arch?  Who would have figured out how to acquire the land and money to get the project started?  Who had the expertise to get the whole project done?  I am in awe of the intelligent resourcefulness that made this arch a reality.

No matter how big or small you view your contributions, your intelligent resourcefulness is vital to this world.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

Get in this?

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

This little tram holds five people and takes them to the top of the St. Louis Gateway Arch.  The interior looks like a work of art.  The idea of getting inside seemed daunting, however, I decided to brave it and ride to the top.  The view above was inspiring.

At the right time, be vulnerable and expose yourself to something that you think you can’t do and this vulnerability unleashed will reveal a greater inner strength and broader view of your own potential.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard
