Serendipitous compassion

Friday, October 24th, 2008

My friend sent me these flowers.  I was completely surprised. It wasn’t my birthday or a special occasion.  She said she was just thinking about me and wanted to do something nice.

Move beyond societal norm motivation and let serendipitous compassion rule your gift giving capacity.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

Take a macro view

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

I went up on a water tower in St. Louis, Missouri and captured a picture of the whole city.  How little everything looked from above and afar.

Take a macro view of problems and the perspective may give you the answers you need.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

A legacy more precious than gold

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

My sister painted an outdoor mural at the Essie Robinson Center for children.  The Alton Telegraph paper printed a story about how this mural is inspiring a whole community.

There is something good about you and when this is shared, you will leave a legacy more precious than gold. This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

The most vital sign: compassion

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

I went to the doctor’s office for a check-up and Collene took my vital signs.  Even more important was her capacity for compassion.  Hearts decorated her scrubs.  Compassion complimented her works.

The essential organs can most optimally flourish within the context of compassion.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

Absent but not forgotten

Monday, October 20th, 2008

Who was Kathy?  Daughter.  Mother.  Architect.  Best Friend.  She died unexpectedly.  Too soon.  To celebrate her life, we looked at pictures of the times past.  She is absent, but not forgotten.

Take every opportunity to say hello to those you love, so you will always have the chance to say good bye.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

Play “as if”

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

This child is playing “as if” she is playing in the band.  She carried this paper towel roll around for hours and tooted, marched, and laughed as a fully accomplished musician.

Don’t wait for mastery.  Play “as if” and find the ultimate joy of performance that lies in expressing not impressing.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard

Ready for serious action

Saturday, October 18th, 2008

These are the fireman’s protective pants, boots, and suspenders carefully placed next to the fire truck.  The fireman jumps into the boots, pulls up the pants, and is ready for an emergency.

Organize your inner and outer space so you will be ready for serious action.  This is my flashback of good for today.  Suzy Shepard
