This garden was donated to the Benedictine Sisters’ neighborhood arts program in Erie, Pennsylvania (www.eriebenedictines.org). Poor children can come and pour out their greatness by doing good works.
Honor that part of you that is poor and be empty enough to receive good from others and humble enough to donate what is truly great within yourself. This is my flashback of good for today. Suzy Shepard

This child is discovering what exists beyond the playroom. I pondered what I could do to bring myself out of the familiar and into something new and inspiring.
This is all that is left of a particular rock formation. I wondered what would be left of me after many years of exposure to life.
There is nothing more beautiful than a father helping his child get a sense of balance. Soon she will be able to skate on her own.
Life seems to be one big puzzle. Disease, war, poverty, and strife just don’t seem to fit with peace, affluence, and harmony. When my family has a puzzle, they work together until the picture can be deciphered — kept, or thrown away.
“Can I paint that chair?” a four year old asked. ”Sure”, I said, hoping she would escape from a boring summer day. The magic happened and I was transformed by the results. My insides seemed painted as well — a central nervous system colored with positive feelings.
Escape from boredom. Take the blank canvases of life and create something awesome. The external expression will revitalize and color your internal voids with great feelings. You will be lifted out of boredom and into relevance. This is my flashback of good for today. Suzy Shepard
There is a light at the end of this tunnel! However, the end doesn’t look good. The lights signal I am nearing a very small hole and the van certainly won’t fit through. Yes. Right? Of course this is an illusion. Artists know these secrets and paint in perspective.
The aspen tree is a study in resilience. Thousand year old aspen roots survive forest fires and send up new trunks. When traumatic life experiences burn on the surface, remember the aspen. Your deep roots will survive and grow into a life not wasted - a life worth living. You will have flashbacks of good.
